About Candlewood Soccer Academy
CSA was founded in 2008 to offer players from Northwest Connecticut an opportunity to pursue excellence in and through soccer. The club was founded for the committed player, and strives to help them develop their skills and place these players with knowledgeable and motivated coaches.
The Academy’s goal is to provide this environment, at the lowest possible cost, to players within the Candlewood Lake region that seek an environment that can meet their skill level and move them to the next.
CSA is a premier and premier-developmental club. It is a not-for-profit organization and enjoys a 501 (c)(3) designation under the IRS Not-For Profit structure, operating under the umbrella of the Soccer Club of New Milford. We operate under the direction of a separate leadership team of dedicated soccer professionals and volunteers. We are dedicated to serving the needs of the more committed soccer player by providing the highest level of instruction available thereby preparing him or her to be a proud representative of the Club at local, state and regional competitions. CSA strives to produce confident players who have not only reached their full athletic potential but are also prepared to become active and productive members of their community.
CSA's rapid growth and success requires the continuous search for qualified coaches. To assure the best professionals are joining our already top crew of Hans Van Zupthen, Gerry Brennan and Bruno Machado, Candlewood Soccer has entered an affiliation with Matt Weston, and his company, Weston Pro Soccer. Matt and his company bring years of experience including current members of college coaching staffs, and former playing professionals. (see the coaching tab for history and profiles
